Quick Link: Tab Effect for Firefox

One of the more innovative things I’ve seen lately for Firefox is the Tab Effect Extension. It adds an interesting transition between tabs reminiscent of how Suse handles desktop transitions.

tab effect extension for Firefox

I’ve got to admit it does look sexy, but after living with it for 5 minutes, I’ve already removed it. The authors should be commended for creating this wonderful extension, but to me this is a clear case of eye-candy getting in the way of practicality.

I agree, great extension, however the practical uses for it are definitely limited

If the ability to control the speed of the transition was there (so I could make it 4 times as fast) then it has potential I guess.

I’m still going to keep my eye on it.  Its only a few tweaks away from being useful and functional.  One of the things I’ve always thought would be useful for the tabs in firefox is some sort of a visual cue that a tab is losing focus or closing.  Maybe the "genie" effect from OSX?

Interesting effect however I myself removed it after playing with it for 10 minutes.

What do you mean the "genie" effect from OSX Derek?

On a mac, when you minimize a window, it doesn’t just disappear.  It shrinks down into the dock from the bottom up.  Here’s an summary. http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=680
